This session will be moderated by Jeannine Clancy, Met Council Environmental Services (MCES) Assistant General Manager and APWA-MN Delegate. Jeannine will invite our guest panelists to discuss innovations and impacts that they have experienced with their agency or clients during the COVID pandemic.
Our first panelists from Metro Transit and MCES will discuss the creative ways they have dealt with COVID in their Transit and Environmental Services Divisions. First, Brian Funk, Deputy Chief Operating Officer with Metro Transit, will highlight the challenges Metro Transit has had to overcome during the pandemic. Second, Craig Edlund, Director of Asset Management with MCES, will discuss operational challenges and strategies implemented to ensure continuity of service.
The conversation will then transition to project and construction activities during COVID. During this portion of the virtual session, Don Elwood, Director of Transportation and Engineering for the City of Minneapolis, will describe innovations introduced during COVID on the Hennepin Avenue reconstruction project in downtown Minneapolis. Working with partners across the APWA industry, the project team used existing tools in new ways to collaborate and communicate a complex project. Many of these changes will become standard on future projects.
Finally, Dan Pfeiffer, Director of Public Engagement at WSB, and Dan McNiel, Public Engagement Coordinator at SRF, will wrap-up this session by discussing successful public engagement opportunities and innovations they have had with clients during the pandemic. Highlighting innovative approaches to engagement during this time.
