Leadership Academy

The APWA-MN Leadership Academy provides the practical knowledge, tools, and skills you need as a public works professional to effectively manage people and situations and to meet complex policy and fiscal challenges you face. Designed to boost your effectiveness as a public works manager and grow your leadership expertise, topics covered include personnel management; communication; conflict resolution; technical skills; management; and navigating relationships among federal, state, and local governments.

2024-2025 Program Details

Location: Plymouth Community Center, 14800 – 34^th Ave. North, Plymouth, MN 55447

Cost: $3,200 per student. Pay the full fee upon registration or pay in two installments. Fee includes classroom instruction, course materials, meals and breaks. Fee also includes registration for the APWA-MN Spring Conference, May 7-9, 2025 at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, where Leadership Academy graduates will be recognized.

Schedule: Classes will meet on Thursday (2:00pm - 8:00pm) AND Friday (8:00am - 3:30pm) on the following schedule:

• Thurs. Sept. 12 and Fri. Sept. 13
• Thurs. Oct. 10 and Fri. Oct. 11
• Thurs. Nov. 14 and Fri. Nov. 15
• Thurs. Jan. 9 and Fri. Jan. 10
• Thurs. Feb. 13 and Fri. Feb. 14
• Thurs. March 13 and Fri. March 14
• Thurs. April 10 and Fri. April 11
• Thurs. May 8 (Graduation at Grand View Lodge)

Course Size: The Leadership Academy is limited to 20 students.

Registration Window: Registration opens mid-May 2024 and will remain open until full.

Registration Deadline: Register by Wed., Sept. 4, 2024.

CEUs/PDHs: Participants will receive 8.0 CEUs / 80 PDHs.

Lodging Stipend: A lodging stipend to assist a participant from greater Minnesota with travel costs is available. Email us to learn more.
