Public Works Management and Communication

This course focuses on the management and communication expected of public works professionals in a leadership position, as well as the skills needed to manage internal relationships within governmental agencies. Topics in the course include public relations, including how to conduct a public meeting to get citizen buy-in; handling complaints; written communication; interacting with media professionals; techniques for screening, interviewing, and hiring new employees; and leveraging social media.

  • Dates: September 6-November 8, 2022
  • Cost: $700/individual class ($3,500 total)
  • Similar class structure
    • Each class will meet once per week for 10 weeks for a three-hour session.
    • Classes will consist of 5 non-credit classes
    • Classes will be held from 2 to 5 p.m.
