Professional Ethics: Dilemmas and Solutions

About the Presentation
Because their work directly affects the health, safety, and welfare of the public, engineers and planners have a responsibility to adhere to the highest principles of ethical conduct.  In this two-hour course, attendees will review 10 commonly encountered ethical dilemmas and their appropriate solutions. For example, the course will explore the following scenarios:

You are working for a public client and they direct you to take an action you do not believe is in the best interests of the public. What duties do you have to the public and to your client?

You work for the county and your brother owns property in the adjoining county that will benefit from an action you will be involved in for your employer. What are your responsibilities?
The course meets the ethics-related training requirements for both licensed engineers and certified planners in Minnesota.
