APWA Minnesota will reward one or two young public works professionals involved in the chapter and eager to grow professionally in the field of public works with a stipend to the 2026 APWA Public Works Expo (PWX) in Houston! 

The Minnesota Chapter is thrilled to recognize the contributions of its young members by once again providing one or two outstanding chapter members with a stipend to cover reasonable travel expenses (up to $2,500) to attend the national PWX event. Additionally, both individuals will also receive complementary registration to the YP Summit Aug. 29, one day prior to PWX. Per the Chapter’s Volunteer Travel Reimbursement Policy, expenses such as PWX registration, travel, lodging and meals are eligible for reimbursement through the stipend.

Learn Technically – Develop Professionally – Visit Local Sights – Take a Technical Tour – Network

This stipend provides an opportunity for young members from our organization who have demonstrated their commitment to public works and the Minnesota Chapter to attend an outstanding national event.

The selected members will attend PWX and the YP Summit in Houston, TX Aug. 29 - Sept. 2, 2026.

Selection Criteria
To be eligible, the applicant should:

1. Be 35 years old or under.
2. Be a member of the American Public Works Association.
3. Be involved in and making contributions to chapter activities by participating in a committee or other chapter work.
4. Be interested in attending the 2026 APWA Public Works Expo and YP Summit.
5. Be willing to share the conference experience with peers and the Executive Committee through an article submission about the event.
6. Have a demonstrated record of a desire to grow professionally in the field of public works.

Application Process
To be considered, prepare a letter (maximum of two pages) addressing the criteria above. Letters of interest must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., April 24, 2026. Please include your APWA membership number.

Selection of the candidates will be made by chapter officers on April 27, 2026.
