Message from 2025 APWA-MN President Mitchell Hoeft
As I reflect on my final message as Chapter President, I’m struck by how quickly this year has flown by—and how much we’ve achieved together. It has been an incredible honor to serve such a dedicated group of professionals committed to advancing public works across Minnesota.
2025 was a year of collaboration and progress. Our Chapter delivered exceptional conferences and workshops, expanded educational opportunities, and strengthened partnerships through networking events that truly make a difference in our communities. To top it off, we were also selected to host the APWA National Conference (PWX) in 2028!  We are so excited to become the host chapter once again for this great conference!

Beyond these successes, we tackled initiatives that will shape our future:
  • Membership Task Force – Exploring strategies to grow and retain our membership, ensuring a vibrant and inclusive Chapter for the future.
  • City Benchmark Task Force – Advancing National’s efforts to provide meaningful local data and comparisons, helping our cities better understand equipment and staffing needs to support public works operations in our great state.
  • MnDOT Library Space Reenvisioning – Partnering with MnDOT to repurpose space for infrastructure awareness and funding discussions. This innovative approach brings our needs directly to legislators who routinely use the library for meeting space.
I’m proud of the energy and commitment shown by our committees and volunteer members throughout the year. From workforce development and diversity initiatives to raising the visibility of public works, your contributions have been invaluable. Our Chapter truly stands out for its engagement and collaboration.

As I transition into the role of Past President, I feel immense pride, gratitude, and optimism. With a strong leadership team and Mark Hansen taking the reins, I’m confident we’ll continue building on this momentum. The future is bright, and I look forward to finding new ways to support our local chapter.

Thank you for the privilege of serving as your President. Wishing you a joyful holiday season and continued success in the year ahead!
