A dedication ceremony will take place Saturday, June 8 at 10:00 am to honor Michael Gau, a MnDOT construction inspector who lost his life August 30, 2023 working on the construction of the Rockford Road Bridge over Hwy. 169.

 

Michael was an inspector on the Golden Valley Central Construction team in the Metro District and a longtime volunteer and lieutenant with the Belle Plaine Fire Department.

 

The ceremony will take place on Hwy. 169 under the bridge, taking advantage of the highway being closed for the weekend for nearby projects. MnDOT expects to have short speeches from dignitaries and elected officials while the memorial plaque is unveiled. The plaque features a backdrop of a Belle Plaine fire truck and the snowplow Michael drove for MnDOT.

 

Saturday's ceremony is open to the public. No RSVP is needed.

 

In remembrance and in honor of Michael, APWA-MN is planning a donation to the family.
