Most challenging Public Works project you have been involved with: The most challenging project that comes to mind was a watermain rehabilitation project located in the City of Minnetonka. I served as the project engineer and lead designer for this project which included developing three different design alternatives for replacing/rehabbing 3,200 feet of 8” watermain directly impacting 19 residents. The three alternates were open cut, cured-in-place pipe, and pipe bursting. Ultimately, pipe bursting was selected. The project also included rehabbing 450 feet of 8” sanitary sewer with a cured-in-place liner as well as improvements to the existing storm sewer. Additionally, the project included designing a variable width trail which posed various challenges due to the narrow corridor as well as attempting to minimize impacts to the existing site features, including retaining walls, trees, and wetlands.
Most enjoyable Public Works project you have been involved with: I have to say that my most challenging project was also my most enjoyable project. One of the reasons I became an engineer is because I enjoy problem-solving and developing workable solutions.
