Chapter Service Event: Lake Hiawatha Park Cleanup, July 26

June 12, 2015

Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 9 am-12 pm is your opportunity to volunteer and give a few hours of your time back to the community all while enjoying the company of fellow APWA members, scoring a free T shirt, partaking in a free BBQ lunch with a couple Leinenkugel beers tossed into the mix.

The event also helps position our chapter to earn the Presidential Award for Chapter Excellence (aka, PACE Award), which recognizes our positive impact on the community!

This year, the APWA-MN Environment and Sustainability Committee decided to partner with the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District-led event held at Lake Hiawatha Park in Minneapolis (28th Avenue S. and 46th Street E.). Volunteers will also receive gloves, trash bags, and water bottle upon arrival.

Our goal is to supply at least a couple dozen APWA volunteers and I believe we will exceed this goal with your help. Sign up online here (please select the Lake Hiawatha option).

After you have completed the signup process, please send a courtesy email to michael.thompson@ci.maplewood.mn.us so we can track APWA-MN member signups.

Our group will gather at the check-in area for a photo around 9 am before splitting up to pick up trash. We will gather again for the free BBQ lunch and Leinies.

If you have any questions, please contact Michael Thompson at (651) 249-2403.

Thanks for giving back to the community and we’ll see you on July 26!
