For the last few years, the APWA-Minnesota Chapter has been recognizing the contributions of some of its young members by providing them with a stipend in the amount of $1,500 to attend the APWA National Congress. The chapter will be continuing this tradition in 2015, and we encourage our young professional members to consider applying.

Attendance at a National Congress provides many benefits, including the opportunity to learn at technical and professional development sessions, participate in technical tours, and network with peers.

The stipend provides an opportunity for a young member of our organization, who works for an organization that may not have the resources to send this person to Congress, and who has demonstrated their commitment to public works and the Minnesota Chapter, to attend an outstanding national event.

The selected member will attend the APWA National Congress and Exposition in Phoenix, Arizona, August 30-September 2, 2015. Learn more about Congress 2015. (Please note that you will need a valid passport to travel to and from this conference.)

Criteria For Selection
In order to be considered for selection, the applicant should:

1. Be 40 years old or under.
2. Be a member of the American Public Works Association.
3. Be involved in and making contributions to Chapter activities through participating in a committee or other chapter work.
4. Be interested in attending APWA National Congress.
5. Be willing to share the conference experience with peers and the executive committee through a memorandum.
6. Has a demonstrated record of wanting to continue to grow professionally in the field of public works.

Application Process
APWA members wishing to be considered should prepare a letter (maximum of two pages) addressing the criteria above. Letters of interest must be received no later than 4:30 p.m., April 23, 2015. Please be sure to include your APWA membership number.

Selection of the candidate will by made by chapter officers and is expected to be ratified by Executive Committee on May 1, 2015.
