Fall Workshop

The Fall Workshop, previously held one day prior to the fall conference, is now offered as a stand-alone event in the fall and is often focused on technical certification. 
 

The 2023 workshop will feature the Public Fleet Management Certificate. This one-day workshop is for new and experienced fleet managers and those aspiring to become fleet managers. The program will provide an overview of the many skills and areas of knowledge fleet managers need to be successful, including:

  • Organization structures
  • Communication
  • Procurement
  • Purchasing
  • Finance
  • Fleet operations

​Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the role of a fleet manager and determine the benefits of enhanced communication with partners and fleet customers
  • Recall basic finance and technology issues related to fleet management and identify global issues and their impact on fleet management
  • Explain common industry best practices

2023 Program Details

PROGRAM: Public Fleet Management Certificate

DATES: September 12, 2023 or September 13, 2023. This is a one-day workshop offered on two consecutive days.

TIME: 7:15 am - 4:00 pm

PRESENTERS: Gerald Byington, Fleet Services Manager, City of Eden Prairie, MN: Kevin Schlangen, CPFP, CAFM, CEM, Fleet Manager, Dakota County, MN; Mark Stinson, Fleet Manager, City of Lee's Summit, MO. 

LOCATION: Plymouth Community Center, 14800 - 34th Ave. North, Plymouth, MN 55447

COST: $250 per participant. Includes materials, breakfast, lunch and breaks.

WORKSHOP SIZE: Each workshop is limited to 125 participants.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Register by September 6, 2023.

LODGING: Should lodging be needed, the Home2Suites by Hilton is located a few blocks from the Plymouth Community Center.


2022 Workshop

Nearly 260 participants over two days joined the chapter for the 2022 Fall Workshop, featuring the Winter Maintenance Operator Certificate. Presenters Wilf Nixon (Professional Snowfighters Association), Nathan Wachtendonk (City of Green Bay, WI) and Bryan Pickworth (City of Farmington Hills, MI) led workshop sessions on materials, equipment and operations, all focused on winter operations and public works.

The workshops were held Sept. 13 and 14 at the Plymouth Community Center, offered apart from the annual Fall Conference for the first time in 2022.
