APWA–MN Chapter Tour of Cemstone & Dakota Aggregates Campus in Rosemount MN

The APWA–MN Environment and Sustainability Committee invites members to a behind-the-scenes tour of the Cemstone & Dakota Aggregates Campus in Rosemount, MN at 2pm on June 9, followed by an informal happy hour at Omni Brewing in Rosemount at 4pm.

Cemstone’s Rosemount operation plays a critical role in supplying the sand, gravel, and crushed stone essential to Minnesota’s public works infrastructure. From roadway base materials, concrete and bituminous pavement mix aggregates, the facility supports a broad range of projects throughout the metro area.

This guided tour will give participants the opportunity to explore:

How raw aggregate materials are extracted, sorted, processed, and prepared for use in construction.
The quality control steps that ensure aggregates meet specifications and performance standards.
Innovations in plant efficiency, material handling, and operational safety.
Cemstone’s broader approach to supporting resilient and durable civil infrastructure across Minnesota.

In addition, the event will highlight Cemstone’s focus on sustainability and responsible resource management. Participants will gain insight into:

Sustainable procurement practices, such as optimized material sourcing, reduced haul distances, and strategies that minimize project carbon footprint.
Resource stewardship within aggregate operations, including plant land use planning, water conservation, and efforts to improve circularity through recycled aggregates.
