Chapter Hosts 31st Annual Summer Golf Outing
By Jason Sprague, Summer Golf Outing Chair
The 31st Annual APWA-Minnesota Chapter Summer Golf Outing returned for the third year to Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids on July 11. This year, the event welcomed nearly 160 golfers under idyllic mid-summer skies.
As in the past, this year’s event yielded fantastic support from our local corporate sector in the form of another record number of sponsors. On behalf of our chapter, I would like thank each of our 28 platinum- and gold-level chapter sponsors for their generous financial support and unique contributions to the event:
AET Insituform Stanley Consultants
Bolton and Menk Kimley Horn Stantec
Braun Krause Anderson Stonebrooke
Cretex MacQueen TKDA
Ess Brothers Neenah Visu-Sewer
Falls Plows ProSource WSB
Garland RT Vision
GoodPointe SEH
The events at the tee boxes and the refreshments provided at the various holes, as well as the door prizes made possible by our sponsors, all played a part in creating a memorable event.
Thanks also to all of this year’s chapter volunteers; course sponsor and Coon Rapids City Administrator Steve Gatlin; emcees Mitch Hoeft and Mike Marti; registration desk attendants Nick Egger, Wayne Houle, and Justin Messner; photography assistants Beth Engum and Sue Mason; and our ever-present go-fers, Charles Cadenhead and Mark Kasma, who were kept busy right up to the end of the banquet.
If you get the chance at the upcoming APWA National Congress in Chicago or the subsequent chapter Fall Conference, please recognize each of these individuals for their efforts.  Without all of their help, our chapter could not put on such a great event!
In addition, I would like to thank our gracious hosts at Bunker Hills, including catering manager Angie Johnson and club pro Tim Anderson.  Both of them did a fantastic job in addressing the issues from last year to ensure that the event continued to live up to its high reputation.
If you attended the banquet, you were provided with a survey to offer direct feedback to our committee regarding the summer golf event.  We are reviewing the responses and will make every effort to incorporate your opinions into next year’s event. If you did not get an opportunity to fill out a questionnaire, please contact Jason Sprague at (612) 217-4420 and we’ll do our best to accommodate your suggestions.
Thanks again and we’ll see you next summer!
