STEM Day at the Minnesota State Fair took place on Thursday, August 22. APWA was proud to host two booths at STEM Day – APWA volunteers provided a water table demonstration at one booth and, for their premier event, the Raise Our Grade, MN committee hosted a second booth. 

The water table demonstration helped show participants of all ages how pollution travels across our landscape in a rain event. It also sparked thoughts on how we could work to prevent this pollution from traveling to our lakes and streams. 

At the Raise Our Grade, MN booth, participants were able to learn more about the united effort that APWA-MN is a part of to help to improve Minnesota’s infrastructure and therefore Raise Our Grade! Report cards were available for distribution and as a talking point. Volunteers reminded visitors to visit www.raiseourgrademn.org to learn more. In addition, information about the benefits of and how to navigate a round-a-bout were available for booth visitors.
