President's Message
Greetings APWA-MN! Your chapter volunteers have been working hard to serve our membership! There’s a good chance you were able to join us at the annual summer golf classic at beautiful Bunker Hills Golf Course – we matched the tournament record this year with 184 participants! The Membership and Special Events Committee does a great job with the annual golf event! Kudos to Jason Sprague, Nick Egger, and the entire special events team!

I’m very excited to share that the Chapter, with the help of a consultant, is in the beginning stages of developing a communication plan to put the good work of the MN2050 Committee into action later this year. When the plan is in place, ALL OF US will have clear and consistent messaging, along with tools to effectively start advocating for infrastructure. This is a big, important effort and we’ll need “all hands on deck” once it’s rolled out. The hope is to be sharing the plan with the membership before the end of the year with a sneak preview at the Fall Conference!

Looking forward to November, we have 50 volunteers that have worked hard to pull together a great program for the APWA-MN Fall Workshop and Conference (November 14-16)!  Announcements will hit your inbox shortly as the final details are worked out.  Big thanks to Amy Grothaus, Jupe Hale, Monica Heil, and Tim Plath for leading those efforts through the Education and Training Committee and Conference Planning Committee

Speaking of volunteers, our Volunteer Coordinator, Beth Engum, will be wrapping up her second term at the end of the year so we will be looking for a new coordinator. Beth has served as the Chapter’s Volunteer Coordinator for the past 6 years! If you are interested in the opportunity, please contact me or Beth to find out more information.

APWA NEEDS YOUR STORIES! Your stories are essential to APWA's Strategic Goals and will help APWA National to better advocate and educate on public works' behalf. Please take a few minutes to describe your successes, challenges, and experiences educating and advocating for public works in your community. It’s easy and quick, but you will need to know your login information. Click here and share your stories!

The days are getting shorter, but there’s still a whole lot of summer left to enjoy – don’t miss it!

Best,
Kristin
